fred's star wars the clone wars reviews: Christophsis arc

for those of you who don't know, the first two and a half years of "clone wars" were not released in chronological order, which is why im reviewing these first instead of the movie or "ambush".

the first two episode chronologically, the christophsis arc contains "cat and mouse" which has the jedi using a new stealth ship to take down the spider-like admiral trench, and "the hidden enemy" which focuses on the hunt for a rouge clone who betrayed the republic, believing himself and his brothers to be slave. all though the story is continued in the feature film, that's a review for another day.

Cat And Mouse

PROS: admiral trench is a surprisingly good villain, and the space battle scenes are quite sophisticatedly done, especially for a animated show.

CONS: the villain is taken out by his own tracer missiles which is quite ridiculous for such a supposedly brilliant villain. also, the stealth ship utilized in this episode is never seen or heard of again.

FINAL RATING: 6/10

The Hidden Enemy

PROS: again, the fight scenes are a wonder to look at. this episode also has the distinction of being one of the first episode to toss aside the humor, and focus on how effective the battle droids can be in numbers.

CONS: the entire driving conflict, whether or not the clones are "slaves" of the republic, is nether actually addressed or resolved.

FINAL RATING: 5/10

FINAL VERDICT

my final verdict of the christophsis arc is that is pretty good. there is some really cool action scenes and the moral issues (resolved or not) in "the hidden enemy" makes it one of the best episodes of the first season. all in all, these are two good lead ins too the movie.
